The name says it all with this series. With a CMG drive, an enormous power density is available in the smallest installation space. This drive can be found wherever high power and torques are required.

The powerful alternative to the shaft-mounted gearbox with attached electric motor.

Four short three-phase AC motors in block design combined with a compact gearbox section ensure high performance and torques.

The multiple gear mesh ensures absolutely smooth running and low-noise operation.

The integrated cooling concept for motors and gearboxes with corresponding sensors and monitoring devices guarantees reliable performance in continuous operation.

The compact dimensions and small rotor diameters create the conditions for the high dynamics of the motor unit. The motor unit is connected to the mechanical part, the compact gearbox, between the rotor and the input pinion shaft. This connection – the rotor shaft serves as the hub – is a friction-locked conical connection.

The four motors develop the same electrical behavior as a standard three-phase asynchronous motor. The motor packages are specially designed for frequency converter operation.
Protective devices such as PTC thermistor sensors are standard, encoders for speed control are optional as required. The CMG compact geared motor is equipped with liquid cooling as standard to dissipate heat loss from the motors. Apart from the hoses for supplying and discharging the coolant, the CMG cooling circuit requires no further piping. The cooling circuit can be controlled via PT1000 temperature sensors on the motor winding.

In contrast to a conventional helical gearbox with a three-phase motor in U or Z design, a CMG in extruder design is absolutely short with the same power. A major advantage here is the reduction in the installation space of the gear unit, which results in a significantly lower requirement for gear oil. The coaxial design of the gearbox in combination with the hollow output shaft results in a compact drive. Worm extraction to the rear by the motor or the supply of heating/cooling to the worm through the hollow output shaft is possible.

  • Cooling

The choice of the appropriate cooling method depends on the specific requirements of the gearbox, the operating conditions and the environmental factors. A thorough analysis of the thermal load and operating parameters is essential to determine the best cooling strategy.
The following are available:

  • Cooling coil

  • Directly mounted pump with plate heat exchanger

  • Cooling unit with electric pump

  • Monitoring equipment

Monitoring devices for gearboxes are crucial to ensure the reliability and efficiency of machines. These devices monitor various parameters such as oil level, temperature, vibration and torque to provide early warning of potential problems.
